Gorgeous White & blue armadillo alebrije wood carving by the Fabian family. Expertly carved out of locally sourced copal wood which is considered a sacred wood and only grows in Oaxaca. It is the preferred wood for carvers of alebrijes. This piece was very well made with perfect proportions and expression of a real life armadillo. The Zapotec patterns adorning the entire piece are inspired by those found on the ancient ruins found scattered throughout the Oaxaca region and have a great importance on Oaxacan culture and arts. A fantastic piece for the art lover!
