his fabulous owl is masterfully handcrafted from copal wood by the Sosa family workshop in Oaxaca, Mexico. Each piece is carefully carved from sustainably sourced copal, a wood native to Oaxaca and traditionally favored by many of the region’s most accomplished woodcarving artists.
The hand-painted detail is truly exceptional, featuring hundreds of extraordinarily fine lines, intricate patterns, and geometric motifs inspired by traditional Zapotec symbolism. The remarkable precision of the carving and painting gives this one-of-a-kind piece a striking presence and makes it a beautiful example of contemporary Oaxacan folk art.
