Exquisite ram wood carving by the Melchor family at their workshop in San Martin Tilcajete which is a small town outside of the city of Oaxaca. The carving was very well done with great attention to detail and form with the left front leg coming up showing a running motion. The combination of dark and light colors gives a nice contrast to the Zapotec designs that adorn the piece throughout. The bright blue circles on the horns give a nice accentuation to the spirals in the horns. A true masterpiece of the highest quality.
