    A superb sculpture

    Eleanor Morales’ alebrijes always manage to capture the essence of the animal’s spirit : in this case the powerful, hulking, red-eyed but also surprisingly gentle presence of a bull. The painting is nice, but the real strength if the piece is in the sculpting. I have several Morales pieces and they are all quite distinctive.
