This spotted fox wood carving also known as "alebrije" was carved and painted in the small town of San Martin Tilcajete in Oaxaca Mexico by the Hernandez family which is one of the 7 original families who popularized the art of wood-carving. This beautiful piece is constructed of 2 pieces of wood: body, and tail. This is to prevent breaking during transport. Alebrije wood carvings take several months and several steps to reach the end result.
