Wonderful one-piece snail wood carving by the Ramirez family workshop in Oaxaca, Mexico. This large piece was carved out of a single piece of copal wood which is the wood of choice for most Oaxacan artists. The softness of the wood allows the carvers to create a level of detail which would not be possible with other types of hard wood.
