This unique alebrije wood carving by the Morales family combines the head of a giraffe with the body and shell of a snail. The carving was exceptionally handcrafted out of a single piece of copal wood using nothing more than chisels and knives and incorporating techniques passed down through generations. The finely painted designs were inspired by the ancient Zapotec ruins which are found throughout Oaxaca such as the Monte Alban ruins just outside of Oaxaca city.
