Exceptionally fine lion alebrije by the Carreño family. Handcrafted out of locally sourced copal wood at their workshop in Oaxaca, Mexico. The amount of skill that went into the carving as well as the painting is impressive. The Zapotec patterns were so finely painted and the large mane of the lion really make this piece one-of-a-kind. A great work of Mexican folk art by top artists.
