Zapotec hyena wood carving handcrafted out of a single piece of copal wood. This piece was delicately carved using only a machete, chisels, and small knives for detail work. The fine detail in the painting incorporates a wide range of Zapotec symbols which can be seen throughout the Zapotec ruins in Oaxaca and have a great presence in Oaxacan culture.
