Jaw dropping skull octopus fusion wood carving by the master Oaxacan artist Gaspar Calvo. It is hard to believe that this piece was carved out of a single piece of wood with such precision and detail! Every tentacle loops and curves perfectly giving this piece a life of its own. The fine detail painted throughout this piece was inspired by the ancient Zapotec ruins which are found throughout Oaxaca and have a big presence in Oaxacan culture to this day.
