Exceptional work of Mexican folk art by the Roque family in Oaxaca. This Day of the Dead skull was carved out of copal wood which is sustainably sourced in the surrounding fields of the town of San Martin Tilcajete. The carving is so well done and even has a jaw that can move up and down. The painting is very finely done the Zapotec patterns painted black over a blue and turquoise base.
