Beautiful one-piece rooster alebrije wood carving by the Melchor family. Handcrafted out of copal wood at their workshop which sources their wood in the fields surrounding their town of San Martin Tilcajete in the outskirts of Oaxaca city. The painting was very finely done and incorporated intricate patterns which are inspired by the ancient Zapotecs who lived in the region over 2,000 years ago.
