Exceptional day of the dead skull wood carving made by the Roque family in Oaxaca. This Day of the Dead calavera was carved out of copal wood which is sustainably sourced in the surrounding fields of the town of San Martin Tilcajete. The carving is so well done and even has a jaw that can move up and down. The painting is very finely done with ancient Zapotec patterns painted black over a blue base.
