Fantastic rhino alebrije wood carving by the very popular Sosa family. Handcrafted out of a large piece of copal wood at their workshop in Oaxaca. Only machetes, chisels, and small knives were used to achieve this incredible level of detail. The posture of the powerful rhino gives and imposing and dominant feel. The inctricate patterns in the painting were inspired by the ancient Zapotec ruins and has become a very recognizable style of the Sosa family artists. An exceptional work of Mexican folk art.
