Exceptional otter alebrije by the Ramirez family at their workshop in Oaxaca, Mexico. This beautiful piece was carved out of a single piece of copal wood by Lauro Ramirez and painted with exceptional detail and vibrant colors by his wife and son. The patterns are representative of those found on the ancient Zapotec ruins which are found scattered throughout Oaxaca and have a great presence on Oaxacan culture and art to this day. An exceptional piece of Mexican folk art!
